I agree totally with you on lining up brackets. Also it gives the white space after the control statements &quot;meaning&quot;. I guess I am a bit flexible with the white space, using it to draw attention to the key parts of the code: to communicate to the reader!

Code really is for humans to read as machines like binary and don&#039;t really care what you dow with white space.

p.s. I do things like:

for($something as $whatever)
    for($whatever as $that)
        if($whatever == $cool)
            $found_it = $cool;

as the inner most line is just a line and the 3 sets of closing braces (a) don&#039;t add any information visually (b) introduce 3 chances for something to go wrong if you forget one when pasting code around etc.</description>
