PatchBox r200
The list of features that I’d like to add to PatchBox is pretty long, and varied in their technologies and disciplines.? I’ve been keeping a simple, priority sorted list updated that helps me stay focussed on getting the features in place, rather than programming for programmings sake.
Last Sunday, as I was pruning the list with the features I’d just implemented, it dawned on me that I was rapidly approaching a milestone.? Certainly the list is still well populated, but the underlying priorities had changed.? I hadn’t really thought too much about setting an initial list of features, they just happened organically as their need arose, but it suddenly seemed obvious that there are the features I need, and the features that can wait till the next iteration.
After splitting these out into two documents I had less than ten items left.
The past three months have been a bit of a blur: working a full-time job and then coding PatchBox in the evenings and at weekends.? Averaging about six hours sleep a night.? I had Christmas and Boxing day off, and a couple of others due to seasonal ills, but otherwise it’s been a constant and furious schedule.
The idea of actually coming to some kind of ‘end’ is very exciting indeed!
It means I can start using it!? Finally, after several years of planning and false starts, I have the tool that can help me realise what I see in my imagination every time I walk down the street or close my eyes.
There will always be a long list of features to add, and new ones being added all the time, but for now it’s just a couple of days away from being ready for its first outing.
So, I’ll be filming a introductory video of it in action on Saturday and then I’m hoping to use it at its first public outing on Sunday night at Final Cut.
Exhausted, but super-happy!
